The Differentiation of Hazardous Ηealthcare waste

The management of hazardous waste is a matter of great concern to producers, who must comply with the important environmental rules governing Europe’s spirit.

The categories of waste vary according to their composition, content and specific management. These should be differentiated and dealt with separately with specific Solid Urban Waste management experience. (SUW)

The standard SUW container, black bag, may contain Wastes from food activities and food residues from the Health Unit’s Nursing Departments, except those from patients suffering from infectious diseases for which the physician has diagnose that they are suffering from a disease that can be transmitted with these residues. Glass, paper, cardboard, plastic, metals, packaging materials in general, bulky materials, and other non-hazardous household waste.

In contrast, Mixed Hazardous Wastes (MHW) are separated into containers known as Hospital Boxes by those responsible for organisms containing mainly wastes from the development of research activities and microbiological-biochemical examinations.(plates, culture plates and other media used in microbiology and contaminated by pathogens). Furthermore, categories of waste from the researches, diagnosis, treatments or prevention of diseases occurring in animals whose collection and disposal are subject to specific requirements in relation to the prevention of contamination are contained and declared for separate classification in the waste management process by the company.

Recycle Greece cooperates with licensed incineration and sterilization units, where the hazardous waste of Health Units is transported to be managed. At the same time, it has the ability to supply all types of packaging and train Health Unit staff on how to properly dispose of waste.
